About

Ames, IA University - Winter Tree Drawings: Used a line to define the negative spaces created by the network of twigs and branches.
Los Angeles, CA Art School opened the door.
Mexico City, MXCD - Illustrator - Playboy Magazine - Art Director: Explored the play between organic natural forms and rectilinear architectural elements.
New York, NY - Illustrator: Created hero paintings. Large silhouettes promoting the idea: we make our heroes, we expect each one to live and act out our dreams, when in reality they are humans.
Todos Santos, MEX - Artist - Wire drawings: Odd bits of wire found scattered over the desert landscape. Part of the construction process, these linear elements, which when removed from their environment, become recognizable images.

Artist Statement

Stakes and Sticks Where there is nothing; there is something. The creative spirit is always at work, even when following my dogs along the trails behind my house. During these walks I became aware of straight lines laying in among piñon, juniper, desert earth. Odd. Stakes, straight lines, forgotten land markers, were a revelation. I became sensitized to other forms cast on the earth: Sticks. Red. The visual meaning of the harsh desert landscape is survival or death. The stakes or sticks represent elements that have lost their purpose, died. Death is associated with red blood.
