I spent most of my life living from Southern California to the Redwood Forest in Humboldt County, moving to Taos NM in 2016. I am a career artist, a painter working in various media, soft pastel, oils and acrylics in earnest. I received my BFA from California State University in Long Beach in 1982 after spending a few years at both Art Center College and Otis Art Institute. I currently create between studios in Taos and Denver. What a gift to be a working artist in these spectacular places.
Artist Statement
My most recent work over the last several years on canvas and paper explores the physical and emotional landscapes I experience moving through these disparate places and spaces. Ultimately rooted in abstraction I create visual stories that spring forward from the outer world and are enmeshed with my highly emotional and psychic responses. It has always been this way. By intuitively layering purposeful marks, color, textures and line the striving is for a sense of balance and beauty within a chaotic world. In NM, specially in Taos and surrounding area I am always responding to the landscape and the architecture and the weaving of the land’s emotions. My painting practice is ever evolving.
