About

I was born in New Jersey and lived, studied and worked in the New York City area for most of my life until 1989 when I relocated to Taos. I received foundational art training at Pratt Institute. I have been represented in shows and galleries in the New York metro area, Delaware, Atlanta, Miami, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Taos. My work is in numerous private collections. Locally, I have been in several shows at the Millicent Rogers Museum and the Harwood Museum. In 2018, I was the featured artist for June in the Harwood’s Studio 238. I have been a member of the Taos art community since 1987 when my representation in Bryan’s Gallery preceded my move to Taos by a couple of years. In 2022 I was a proud participant in TAAC’s Inaugural Exhibition.

Artist Statement

I paint from a love of color and design. Presently I am exploring the dynamics of visual perception with pattern, geometry, and figure/ground relationships. I like to get color contrasts and schematic systems to play off each other to activate the 2-D surface and produce some dazzle and maybe some confusion as to what is foreground and what is background. At best, the question of what is happening in the space of the picture - are these colors and marks random or part of an ordered scheme? - will move a viewer into a meditative or contemplative space.
