About

Rosie is a Taos-based artist who also spends a large portion of each summer in Marble, CO, at the foot of the mountains that produce Yule marble. There, she works for the annual MARBLEmarble carving symposium. She grew up primarily in Northwestern Colorado but spent a few years of early childhood in Taos. She strengthened her NM ties with four years in Santa Fe at the University of Art and Design where she received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in 2016. She also completed internships at SITE Santa Fe and with the Currents New Media Festival. During a period of world travel after graduation, Rosie experienced an artist residency at Sachaqua Centro de Art in the remote jungle of Peru, where she created a piece for a public sculpture trail. She has exhibited work in Colorado, NM, Wyoming, British Columbia, and Peru.

Artist Statement

The stoic body of stone receives my hand with receptivity and resistance. If I’m lucky, a rhythm will emerge and capture my full attention. It is an ancient material that has millions of years of experience to express. At my best, I am respectfully opening a door so that the piece can shine its essence. Once the whirlwind of creation has subsided, I can also learn about my own subconscious patterns in the object.
