About
Paula Verona has been living and working in Taos, New Mexico since 1991. Prior to moving to Taos, she exhibited extensively in galleries and museums on the east coast and has had several solo exhibitions in New York City. Verona is represented in public and private collections in the USA and abroad. Verona has traveled extensively throughout the world. She considers her work to be a composite of impressions, memories and experiences of her travels, seeking their emotional essence. Paula Verona’s work can be seen at the Verona Studio Gallery, 502 Camino Cortez, Taos, NM and at the Museum of Encaustic Art, Cerrillos, NM.
Artist Statement
My work is a synthesis of impressions, memories and experiences of my travels. I often combine Asian and Indian artistic and philosophical influences. My awareness of nature, the cosmos and the spiritual are reflected in my work. I have been working with Encaustic for the past several years. I find it a most seductive medium. I enjoy the immediacy that working with pigmented hot wax allows. By scraping and layering, I can achieve depth and luminosity and enjoy the limitless possibilities it offers.
