About

Josh Tafoya is a textile artist born and raised in Taos, NM that works within the concepts of his heritage and furthering traditional craft. Influenced by Taos’s multitude of arts, he pursued a career in the arts after getting his BFA in Fashion Design at Parsons New School of Design in New York where he worked with luxury fashion studios, up until 2020 where he resettled back to NM. This relocation led him to reflect on his home, and its rich textile history. Coming from a ranching grandfather and a weaving grandmother, brought him full circle bringing his knowledge of fashion and traditional Spanish loom weaving together. This is what caught the attention of the CFDA, where he was invited to become a CFDA Interim member in 2023. Bringing his unique perspective of his heritage in the fashion industry.
