About
Josh Mishell is a multidisciplinary artist who splits his time equally between Taos & Denver. He particularly enjoys standing around in the dark by himself on moonless nights while taking highly technical and nuanced photos of the cosmos. His photography has been featured in Vail Valley Magazine, Discover Basalt Magazine, and the Sky-Hi Daily News. Josh has worked as a graphic designer for more than twenty years, with a wide breadth of expertise that stretches across both the print and digital spaces. You can find him and his wife Camy walking their Scottish Terriers on Taos' scenic & quiet back-roads. He holds a B.S. in Studio Art from Skidmore College.
Artist Statement
I am mesmerized by the natural beauty of the West's expansive landscapes and am always looking for beautiful scenic views overlooking sparsely populated areas. The source material for this piece was captured in the quiet enclave of Cabo Pulmo, Baja California Sur, Mexico over the course of a very still and very clear evening. Hundreds of photos are overlapped on each other and each concentric circle displays the course of a star's motion through the sky over the course of an evening.
This is Josh Mishell's first TAAC exhibition
