About
Vanessa Prestage was born in the rural American South, spent many of her formative years exploring the world, and now resides in Taos, NM. She is greatly inspired by the beauty and resilience of the natural world, and the haunting allure of abandoned places and liminal spaces. Her photography focuses on illuminating the extraordinary within the seemingly ordinary, urging viewers to pause, look closer, and discover the profound in the everyday.
Artist Statement
In essence, my photographic work is an ode to the overlooked, and a celebration of the beauty that can be found in ordinary objects and deserted places -- even and often within decay and abandonment. It is in these forgotten or ignored corners of the world that I have been most inspired by nature’s resilience, and its ability to adapt and flourish despite our best efforts to subdue it. Through my work, I hope to inspire a renewed sense of wonder and appreciation for the world around us, and encourage a shift in perspective -- unveiling the extraordinary in the seemingly mundane, and inviting viewers to embark on their own journey of discovery and introspection.
