Terrie Hall is an abstract painter who is known for her unique and vibrant art works. With a background in interior design and a passion for mixing patterns and textures, Terrie brings a fresh and dynamic perspective to her art. Terrie has a deep appreciation for music of all kinds. It is not uncommon to find her dancing and grooving to her favorite tunes while immersed in the process of painting. This passion for music infused her artwork with a sense of rhythm and movement, creating a truly captivating experience for viewers.
Artist Statement
My art is a reflection of my personal journey and the diverse experiences that have shaped me. Inspired by the vibrant colors I was exposed to while living in Mexico, I paint abstractly using acrylics and I often incorporate hand-painted papers as a collage element. Through my art, I aim to challenge societal norms and break free from the constraints of traditional expectations. Having grown up in the conservative atmosphere of the Deep South, I have always felt the need to resist the rules imposed on women. This rebellion against societal norms is further amplified by my close alignment with the LGBTQ community and my experience of raising a non-binary child to adulthood. By exploring themes of identity, self-expression and personal freedom, my work invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys and find empowerment in embracing their unique identities. Ultimately, my art is a testament to the power of self acceptance and the beauty that lies in embracing who we truly are. It is my hope that my work resonates with others and encourages them to embrace their own authenticity.
