Chris Willcox (b 1988, Washington D.C.) is an painter who lives and works in Santa Fe, NM. He has shown across the United States and internationally at venues such as the Smithsonian Institution and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Prior to his career in art, Chris worked in the neuroscience laboratory of Nobel laureate Dr. Eric Kandel.
Artist Statement
My work externalizes the inner landscapes of subtle, contemplative states. These are inward-gazing paintings of emotional and phenomenological space. I aim to take the viewer somewhere indeterminate but real, to stir a memory of something once felt but not articulated. Way out beyond the world of names and things lie vast valleys untouched by mind. Meet me there.
