Artist Statement
In a time of unprecedented technological advancement, environmental destruction and changing communication I feel at once pushed to react and pulled inward to reflect. My drawings, paintings and research embody a quest for narrative phenomena. The painting media I employ - egg-tempera, oil, print and improvisational fresco - are processes that relate to the birth of scientific inquiry and the history of visual art. My work is exploratory, often the subject presents itself through the process of painting or drawing. Through my work and scholarship I envision and enact moments of experimentation and discovery.
