Artist Statement
My work focuses on the concepts of art on the body. Using my knowledge of textiles, construction, and illustration to translate concepts of culture, heritage, and the ideas of modern tribalism. This led me to reflect on my New Mexican home, and its rich textile history. Coming from a Ranching grandfather and a Weaving grandmother, the knowledge has been passed on and has brought me full circle into traditional Spanish loom weaving. By exploring old and new techniques with my weavings and garments, keeping old traditions alive, I’m furthering a continuing conversation of my New Mexican heritage.
